What is CAPA?CAPA, also known as Christian Authors' Promotional Alliance, is the answer to a small-press author's dream. CAPA was designed to meet a need no one else has addressed, combining the work of talented small-press and self-published authors, and marketing their work via a high-class, beautiful, integrated CD catalog. To join click here Who may join CAPA?CAPA is a strictly Christian organization, and each member must verify that he has a viable and ongoing personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Members must also agree to uphold scriptural principles without compromise and verify that their work complies with sound scriptural principles.
What are the advantages of joining CAPA?CAPA membership allows members a group venue to market their work. Because many marketing outlets refuse to work with individual authors, small-press and self published authors have found themselves excluded from the marketplace. Working with CAPA, authors who have struggled to make their presence known can now join a collective marketing unit to get a foot in the door, that was previously closed.
What is included in my membership fee?For a $30 monthly fee, each member's book will be showcased via a full-color integrated CD, as well as a beautiful one-page presentation on the CAPA website. Once we receive your books, we will aggressively market them to appropriate contacts
May I purchase catalogs outright?Yes. CD catalogs are available for a cost of $4 each, including shipping.
Is CAPA membership limited to small-press authors?No. Although CAPA was designed to meet the marketing needs of small-press authors, its membership is not limited. The only requirement is a high-class and quality Christian product. If it is found that the work is substandard or inappropriate in any way, or of poor physical quality, that member's work will be excluded from the catalog and membership will be forfeited, including any prepaid fees.
May I still join CAPA and showcase my work even if it is excluded from the retail sales market and must be sold via small-press website?Yes. Most definitely. CAPA can still include a beautiful, full-color page for your Christian book, then link it to your publisher's website for checkout purposes.
When will new catalogs be released?Members can join at any time. Their their work will shortly be added to the website and the CD catalog will be updated as needed. May I still join CAPA if I already have market presence on Amazon and Christian Bookstores?Yes. There is nothing to prevent you from joining simply to showcase your work in CAPA's beautiful, integrated CD catalog, whether your work is already listed in other venues or not. In fact, your inclusion in the CAPA CD catalog will offer you another great opportunity to access the marketplace, in a classier, more visible way than ever before.
Will CAPA members have to have new books printed to participate in the CD catalog?No. Absolutely not. CAPA will take your existing quality Christian book and make it available with a beautiful one-page presentation, with full color cover photo, appropriate grabber blurb, ISBN and ordering information.
Do I have to let CAPA handle my checkout and fulfillment, or can my personal website shopping cart be linked to the CAPA website?The CAPA website will offer two options. You may either let CAPA process the order through our shopping cart, or you can have CAPA add a link to your website and personal shopping cart, and fulfill the orders yourself. If CAPA processes the order, a 15% fee will be charged against the price paid for books sold. There is no charge to the member who processes his own checkout and sales.
How often will I get paid for books sold?If you make use of the CAPA website shopping cart, you will be paid on a quarterly basis.
What genres will be included in the CAPA catalog?Only outwardly Christian work will be included, and these in the following categories:
Can my self-published book be included in the CAPA catalog?Yes, but only if it meets the CAPA requirements for quality. CAPA will refuse work that is of poor quality or unedited, with gross, uncorrected errors.
